REPORTS TO: Superintendent
ROLE AND PURPOSE:
Direct and manage the instructional program. Supervise operations at the campus level. Provide
instructional leadership to ensure high standards of District policies and instructional programs.
Manage the operation of all campus activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Certification/Education
Master’s degree in education administration
Texas Mid-Management or other appropriate Texas Certificate
Certified instructional supervisor and appraiser in Professional Development Appraisal T-
Tess Appraisal System
.
Special Knowledge/Skills
Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to evaluate the instructional program and teaching effectiveness
Strong communications, public relations, and interpersonal skill
Knowledge of computer and its use in instruction and administration
Minimum Experience
Three years of successful teaching experience
Prior experience in instructional leadership roles
Other qualifications deemed necessary by the Board
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT
1. Monitor instructional and managerial process to ensure that program activities are
related to program outcomes and use these findings for corrective action and
improvement, as well as for recognition of success. Measured by the effectiveness
of STAAR, STAAR ALT, RDA, TELPAS scores.
- Ensure that there is a continuous focus on student growth and learning evidence
in Federal, CI Plans Programs as measured by scaled scores and masters grade
level achievement.
3. Coordinate all programs (Special Education, GT, BIL, ESL, RtI Career Tech) to assure compliance with all state and federal regulations as evidenced by
documentation for DEC reports, AEIS reports, TELPAS reports, and RDA reports.
SCHOOL/ORGANIZATIONAL CLIMATE
4. Communicate and promote expectations for high-level performance from staff and
and promote positive campus morale and team building among staff. Reward
excellence and achievement as documented to the central office. (Article in the Wave, campus Newsletters, newsletters sent to parents, reward System student achievement:
Math Counts, UIL, STAAR Masters Grade Level, National Merit Scholars, Regional Spelling Bee).
5. Principal and staff follow chain-of-command.
6. Demonstrate sensitivity and fairness to diverse cultural and ethnic differences among students, staff, and the community. (Closing the gap on academic achievements, drop-out
rate, discipline report, and evidence in the CIP.)
SCHOOL/ORGANIZATIONAL IMPROVEMENT
7. Direct planning activities and implement programs collaboratively with staff to ensure
successful grade transition and the attainment of the school’s mission as outlined
in the Comprehensive Needs Assessment, Campus Improvement Plan, Discipline Management Plan, and Federal Programs Plan.
8. Utilize student performance data to develop interventions that result in improving
student performance.
9. Lead a collaborative process for the achievement of campus performance objectives involving staff, parents, and community members. (Participation in SBDM, SBDM’s
minutes, parent and Title 1 meetings/workshop)
PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT
10. Complete in-service activities for staff as documented at the central office.
Required: Legal Updates, Behavior Management, Intervention Plans, Conflict Resolution,
Safety Protocols, Technology, and Special Education.
11. Observe employee performance, record observations, conduct evaluation
conference and develop growth plans if needed with all staff as measured by
completion of appraisal forms and supporting documentation. (T-TESS)
12. Follow administrative procedures relative to personnel placement, transfer, retention,
promotion and dismissal.
ADMINISTRATION AND FISCAL/FACILITIES MANAGEMENT
13. Comply with District policies and emergency procedures as well as state and federal
regulations affecting the schools.Follows District procedures promptly and accurately.
14. Successfully administers all campus budgets in accordance with district, state and federal guidelines as outlined in the comprehensive needs assessment and CIP.
15. Manage the use of school facilities.
16. Work with faculty in developing a comprehensive Student Discipline Management
Plan and Individual Behavior Intervention Plans, as presented to the Central Office.
17. Ensure that school rules are uniformly observed and that student discipline is
appropriate and equitable according to TEA standards for accountability.
18. Conduct positive conferences with parents, students, and teachers concerning
school and student issues.
ADMINISTRATOR’S PROFESSIONAL GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT
19. Willingness to improve by using information and insights provided through administrator’s assessment instruments, the District appraisal process, evaluative
feedback from central office staff, and professional development programs to improve performance.
STUDENT MANAGEMENT
20. Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, responsible and generally in
accord with accepted community standards and the TEA code for all students and staff as measured by the following: chain-of-command, dress code, attendance, and participation at meetings.
21. Develop and pursue a plan for professional improvement as measured by
participation in training activities and evidence in federal programs plans.
SCHOOL/COMMUNITY RELATIONS
22. Promote and support school/community activities (e.g., parades, Chamber of
Commerce activities, community projects(e.g., Soil & Water Conservation, Essay
Contest, Spelling Bee, Keep Calhoun Beautiful, Robotics).
23. Encourage community and parental involvement, (e.g., Title Meetings, PTA,
Booster Clubs, Public SchoolsWeek, Open SBDM, House, AEIS Hearing, tutors, mentors, volunteers)
ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE INDICATORS AND PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
24. Develop site-based campus improvement plans in compliance with Board/District
goals State and Federal mandates as measured by CIP and presentation of the Plan
to the Board.
25. Achieve meets standard on the Academic Excellence Indicators as measured by
STARR scores, AEIS report, and PBMAS.
26. Assume responsibility for the continued development, implementation, and support
of the CCISD curriculum by the principal, teachers, and staff, as measured by the
support of the Board Goals and activities recorded/revised on the CIP.
OTHER
27. Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
28. Maintain confidentiality and model professionalism at all times for students and staff.
